If you want to enable search engine friendly URL like http://yoursitename.com/contactus.html etc, then you need to do the following thing:
Go to Joomla admin panel:
System=>Global Configuration=> Under Site tab
Search Engine Friendly URLs = Yes
Use URL rewriting = Yes (Rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess before activating it)
Adds Suffix to URL = Yes (Rename web.config.txt to web.config before activating it)
If the changes causes internal server error then, The line : ‘Options +FollowSymLinks’ may cause problems
comment it out (add # to # beginning of line)
